When considering the mid-size SUV segment in India, numerous models come to mind, including the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Kia Seltos, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, Skoda Kushaq, Volkswagen Taigun, and the now-discontinued Renault Duster. However, one model has notably dominated this sector: the renowned Hyundai Creta.

Hyundai Creta Gaining Best-Seller Status

Debuting in India in 2015, the Hyundai Creta's reputation for offering value for money has propelled it to best-seller status. From the outset, this mid-size SUV leader has achieved remarkable sales, surpassing a million units with 1,040,964 units sold domestically to date.

The Hyundai Creta's popularity is evident in its consistently high sales, averaging over 15,000 units per month in 2024, following its record-breaking performance of 157,311 units in 2023.

The significant lead of the Hyundai Creta over its competitors is highlighted by its sales volumes. For instance, the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara recorded 113,387 units in 2023, and the Kia Seltos reached 104,891 units during the same period. The Scorpio, encompassing N and Classic variants, achieved sales of 121,420 units in 2023.

According to Tarun Garg, the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Hyundai Motor India, the Creta has solidified Hyundai's reputation as a household name in India, with each generation outperforming its predecessor.

The Hyundai Creta is currently available in two variants in the Indian market: the standard model and the N Line edition. The standard variant is priced between Rs 11 lakh and Rs 20.15 lakh (ex-showroom), while the N Line version falls within the price range of Rs 16.82 lakh to Rs 20.45 lakh (ex-showroom).

Analysts suggest that the Hyundai Creta's appeal lies in its efficient engines, spacious cabin, and a range of features, particularly those integrated into the dashboard. Additionally, they note that the Hyundai Creta is known for its reliability, low ownership costs, and high resale value.
