Tata Motors has begun accepting bookings for the Altroz Racer, the sportier version of its premium hatchback, ahead of its launch next week. The automaker has been teasing the hatchback on social media, revealing some updates and sharing the engine note. Recent details indicate that the Altroz Racer will not be limited to a single variant but will come in three trim levels: R1, R2, and R3, each with different features.

Tata Altroz Gets A New Look

The entry-level R1 trim will be well-equipped, offering features like 16-inch alloy wheels, automatic climate control, rear air-con vents, projector headlamps, fog lamps, leatherette upholstery, cruise control, automatic headlamps and wipers, a sportier exhaust, and a new 10.25-inch touchscreen, an upgrade from the standard Altroz's 7.0-inch unit. Safety features will include six airbags, a new addition to the Altroz range.

The R2 trim will enhance the offering with a sunroof, wireless phone charger, 360-degree camera, blind spot monitor, and a 7.0-inch TFT display in the instrument cluster. The top-tier R3 variant will include ventilated front seats, another new feature for the Altroz, along with iRA connected car technology and an air purifier.

Visually, the Altroz Racer will sport a more dynamic look compared to the standard model, featuring blacked-out alloy wheels and a dual-tone paint scheme with a black bonnet and roof complete with racing stripes. Customers will have three color options: Atomic Orange (new), Avenue White, and Pure Grey. The interior will also have sportier design elements, including orange accents on the dashboard, orange stitching and inserts on the seats, and orange ambient lighting.

Mechanically, the Altroz Racer will be powered by the more potent turbo-petrol engine from the Nexon, delivering 118 bhp and 170 Nm of torque—10 bhp and 30 Nm more than the Altroz iTurbo. This power will be transmitted to the wheels through a 6-speed manual gearbox.

Upon its launch, the Altroz Racer will compete with the i20 N Line in the Indian market.
