The emergence of Artificial Intelligence has created a shadow of fear over the Indian backend sector as it is anticipated that this will be the first sector where people will likely lose their jobs. It is said that AI can effectively and efficiently do it without a human workforce.

Speaking over the AI leading to people losing jobs, Rajesh Nambiar, Chairman of Nasscom - an IT industry body, who also holds the portfolio of Managing Director (MD) at the Indian business of technology giant Cognizant, said that Business Process Outsourcing is likely to get majorly affected from the emergence of AI.

He further said that if AI starts replacing human workforce in the BPO sector then it will completely wipe off the existence of the backend sector.

“People will not only loose jobs in this country but this will affect the back end sector all across the world.”, he said.

However, Nambiar stated that the people working in the software service industry, It industry do not need to fear of this technology as it is not going to have much effect on jobs there.

On the other hand, he claimed that this technology will surely have a major impact on the jobs of the $250 billion Indian tech sector, which has a significant share of the country's GDP.
