Chennai SHOCKER: Techie Dies After Electrocuting Self, Was 'Depressed Due To Work Pressure'

Chennai: Amidst the uproar over the death of a Pune EY executive, a software engineer self-electrocuted himself in Chennai on Thursday night due to workload. The victim, identified as 38-year-old Karthikeyan was reportedly depressed due to the work pressure at his company.

According to the police, the techie was found unconscious at his home, wrapped with live wires by his wife. The incident has taken the internet storm after the death of Anna Sebastian Perayil, a Chartered Accountant (CA) working at EY in Pune.

The techie lived with his wife and their two children. The reports revealed that during the last two months, he had been undergoing medical treatment for depression at a hospital in Chennai's Medavakkam as a result of stress due to work.

His wife left for a visit to a temple on Monday with her friends. When she returned home on Thursday night, she found the door locked from the inside. After knocking several times, she used the spare keys and was shocked to find her husband lying motionless. She immediately alerted her neighbors in panic and they informed the police.

The police said that the victim had only his undergarments on and his entire body was completely wrapped with wires.

The body has been sent to the post-mortem at a government hospital in Chennai. A case of unnatural death has been filed and investigations are underway to find the other reasons behind his extreme step.
