Now You Can Get Onions And Pulses At Cheap Prices At These Metro Stations In Delhi
The Ministry of Consumers' Affairs, Food, and Public Distribution, undertaking the National Cooperative Consumers Federation of India (NCCF), plans to open retail stores at key metro stations in Delhi to address the elevated price of essential commodities.
The NCCF will sell onions, pulses, and flour to consumers at subsidized rates. Notably, when essential item prices shoot up in India, the NCCF enters the market to pull down the inflation on essential items.
According to media reports, the NCCF will inaugurate its first kiosk at Delhi's Rajiv Nagar Metro station in collaboration with Delhi Metro Rail Services (DMRC).
NCCF procures a range of essential items from the central government and sells them to customers at a cheap and affordable price.
The official said, "Initially, the NCCF plans to open retail stores at 15 to 20 metro stations in Delhi. If the plans are successful, then they will be extended."
Recently, due to the high prices of tomato and onion shoots in the country and many other places, the NCCF sold these essential items at a cheap price. In July, retail inflation reached a 15-month high of 7.44%, with food price inflation peaking at 11.5%—the highest in over three and a half years.
