Akash Deep delivered an incredible performance in the 1st Test against Bangladesh by playing a crucial role in India's massive 280-run victory in Chennai. He took two wickets in the first innings and made a significant contribution for India to go 1-0 up in the series. He will again come under the spotlight when the second and last Test is scheduled on Friday in Kanpur.

Having made his international debut in February, the 27-year-old will look for some more good form if he is indeed taken into the playing XI of India against Australia in the last three matches.

In an interview Zaheer Khan said to Cricbuzz that he definitely want him to be considered for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

"There is no doubt about that. If you look at the Indian team's playing XI and there are talks about three seamers, Akash Deep is the third. So obviously when we talk about Australia, about that tour, we could see Akash Deep part of the team," he said.

"Like how Siraj approaches it. He attacks the stump a lot fourth stump, off stump. The more deliveries you put around that on good length consistently, and it is important in Test match level. Akash Deep has all of that and he showed he has that aggression needed for a pacer. He has good potential and if he gets chances, his self-belief will increase and he will contribute to the team."

No Pressure About Border-Gavaskar Trophy, Says Akash Deep

Akash Deep said on Wednesday, September 25, he could not really have a good outing throughout the Test against England.
