The Board of Control for Cricket in India on Sunday declared the rules of the Indian Premier League auction, permitting each franchise to retain a maximum of six players and also featured the Right To Match (RTM) option. Former Indian fast bowler RP Singh has predicted that the Royal Challengers Bengaluru while team fraternities are going to finalise their choices for the IPL 2025 auction, will be having some serious stability in the coming season. He feels that they will keep only Virat Kohli and for other options, they would rely on RTM. Kohli has been with RCB since the beginning of the first season of IPL and is also the most consistent batter in the tournament with a total of 8,004 runs in 252 matches. Along with eight hundreds, he also possesses 55 fifties, the most in the entire history of IPL.

'Retain Virat Kohli, Release Everyone Else': Says RP Singh

"I feel they don't have any problem. They will just retain Virat Kohli, release everyone else, and use the RTM," RP Singh said during a discussion on Colors Cineplex.

"If we see the value taking Rajat Patidar as an example, will we get him for more or less than 11 crores at the auction? I feel you will get Rajat Patidar for fewer. So you get him back at the auction. Even if he reaches close to 11 crores, you have the RTM which you can use there," he said.

The Retention Strategy For RCB

"Siraj, performance-wise, you will have to again judge whether you will get him close to 11 crores. I don't think Siraj will reach close to 14 crores. They will always have the option that if he reaches there, you can use the RTM," he added.

The IPL franchise can determine its retention strategy from the total pool of six players, which contains the Right To Match option. According to BCCI's declaration, the teams could consist of a minimum number of five capped players (both Indian and overseas) and a maximum of two uncapped players from the total six retained players.
