BPSC TRE-3 Exam Row: Students' Protest Turns Violent In Bihar, Several Protestors Lathi-Charged By Police
BPSC TRE-3 Protests: About 125 students staged a demonstration outside BPSC office in Patna (Bihar) on Monday, demanding the implementation of 'One candidate, one result' in BPSC TRE-3 (Bihar Public Service Commision). They gathered outside BPSC office requesting counselling before the announcement of the exam results.
The peaceful student protest was however met with unnecessary force as the candidates were allegedly lathi-charged by the Police and stopped at Lalit Bhawan. Voicing his concerns, BPSC student leader Dilip Kumar said "We just want to meet the BPSC chairman and keep our demands before him". He further adds that they were lathi-charged by the Police.
On the protests, SDPO Sachivalaya-1 denied the claims of using force against the students. Providing insights, he said that about 100-125 candidates gathered around the BPSC office to protest. The authorities, however stopped the protestors at Lalit Bhawan without using force on the candidates.
According to the advocating students, pre-result counselling should be done to ensure fairness and transparency in seat allotments. They believe that this measure would exclude any controversy surrounding the seat vacancies. On the other hand, the commission be of the opinion that this move allows candidates to choose the posts they prefer.
The results of the BPSC TRE-3 teachers recruitment exam is scheduled to be out by the end of August. Following the decision of the State Government to limit the reservation to 50%, the Bihar Public Service Commission is focused on locking the process as soon as possible. The OMR sheets are currently getting closer to completion.
This year, BPSC TRE-3 exams have garnered about 5,81,305 registration out of which only 4 lakhs candidates have appeared. The examination aims to fill 87, 774 teaching positions at various levels.
