As the Lok Sabha elections draw near, numerous Bollywood stars have become targets of deepfake technology, manipulated to promote specific political parties. A recent example is a viral video featuring Aamir Khan endorsing the Congress party, followed by another manipulated video of Ranveer Singh doing the same. The clip was recorded during the actor's recent visit to Varanasi, where he shared his profound experience of exploring the city's spiritual essence.

The video depicts Ranveer Singh making critical remarks about the Narendra Modi-led government, suggesting that the ruling party thrives on exploiting the hardships and unemployment faced by the people. The video concludes with Ranveer Singh urging voters to make an informed choice and support the right party, accompanied by the flashing tagline "Vote For Congress."

The video is clearly fabricated, evident from several indicators. Ranveer's lip movements do not match the audio, and the footage appears to be taken from his recent visit to Kashi, where he praised Prime Minister Modi for his efforts in revitalizing the city.

Ranveer Singh and Kriti Sanon dazzled as they walked the ramp as showstoppers for designer Manish Malhotra's fashion show at Varanasi's Namo Ghat. Prior to the show, both actors visited the Vishwanath Temple and reflected on their spiritual encounters.

Previously, Aamir Khan also faced a similar situation when a deepfake video allegedly showing him endorsing a political party circulated widely online.

The 59-year-old actor, terming the video as "fake," took action by filing a complaint with the Cyber Crime Cell of Mumbai Police. Reports suggest that the video in question was an AI-generated manipulation of footage from Aamir Khan's hosting of 'Satyameva Jayate,' a show that aired almost a decade ago.
