Ranbir Kapoor Joins Dhoom 4: Actor Ranbir Kapoor turns 42 on September 28 and there could not be a better surprise for his fans that the news of him joining Yash Raj Film’s ‘Dhoom 4’. As per a report by Pinkvilla, the actor has been confirmed for the fourth instalment of the franchise, with pre-production already underway.
A source close to the development informed that Aditya Chopra has also come on board to bring back the magic on screen. "Dhoom is a franchise dear to Aditya Chopra, and he has decided to reboot the franchise keeping in line with the current times. Like all previous parts, the script of Dhoom, tentatively titled Dhoom Reloaded, is been developed by Aditya Chopra with Vijay Krishna Acharya. The idea and vision is to create a cinematic experience like never before with the fourth Dhoom film."
Further putting a stop to all the speculations about the lead actor in the film, the source further shared, "Discussions with Ranbir have been going on for the longest time. He had always shown interest to be a part of Dhoom 4 on hearing the basic idea, and is now finally confirmed to lead the franchise." The source also added that ace filmmaker Aditya always felt that Ranbir would be the perfect choice to carry forward the Dhoom legacy. Several names - from Suriya to Shah Rukh Khan - were being speculated for the lead role in the film. However, no official statement was ever issued by the production house.

Another big revelation is that no actors from the previous instalment will be part of this film. It's a reboot, and hence will have a fresh story line, fresh characters and new actors. Though actors who will plays cops have not been revealed, it's confirmed that Ranbir will be the antagonist in the movie. "Two big heroes from the younger generation will come on board to play the duo of cop buddies in Dhoom 4. Now that the core story-board is locked, the team will proceed to the casting stage. Dhoom 4 will not just be the biggest Dhoom film, but also a tentpole feature film of global standard from Indian Cinema,” the source stated.
Film To Go On Floors in 2025
If reports are to be believed, Yash Raj Films (YRF) will start the shoot by the end of 2025 or the start of 2026. This is due to Ranbir's packed schedule. The actor will wrap up Ramayana 1 and 2 as well as Love and War before starting Dhoom 4.
The source calls it a special film for Ranbir because "it will the 25th movie of Ranbir's career." "He will follow up Dhoom 4 with Animal Park, thereby packing a solid punch this decade with an extraordinary line up,” the source ended.
