In 2011, this lady superstar changed her religion from Christianity to Hinduism and became Nayantara. Born into a Malayali Christian family, Nayantara's original name was Diana Mariam Kurian. She adopted Hinduism at the Arya Samaj temple in Chennai, leaving behind her Christian faith. Since then, Nayantara has been her stage name and official identity.

There was much media discussion about why Nayantara changed her religion. When Nayantara changed her religion in 2011, it was reported that she did so to marry Prabhu Deva. However, despite changing her religion, Nayantara and Prabhu Deva did not get married. Prabhu Deva's first wife, Latha, had appealed in the family court, after which Nayantara understood that their marriage could not happen. Consequently, she distanced herself from Prabhu Deva. In 2012, Nayantara completely ended her relationship with Prabhu Deva.

Years ago, South cinema superstar turned down an offer from Shah Rukh Khan's film. It was reported that she rejected an item number offer in Shah Rukh Khan's film 'Chennai Express'. She declined to perform the item song 'One Two Three Four' in the 2013 film 'Chennai Express'.

Years later, She acted as the lead actress in Shah Rukh Khan's film 'Jawan'. This film proved to be a blockbuster. Nayantara was paid millions for her role in this film. In the movie, She not only performed excellent action scenes but also shared great romantic chemistry with Shah Rukh Khan.
