In an exhilarating episode of Kaun Banega Crorepati 16, Chander Prakash, a-22-year-old aspirant from Jammu and Kashmir became the first Crorepati of season 16. Besides a cheque of Rs 1 crore, Chander was also given a car. The landmark moment was celebrated by Amitabh Bachchan in great enthusiasm, who hugged him after announcing his victory.

Though Chander did not proceed with the 7 Crore question, it’s interesting to note that the answer he guessed was correct.

Chander, who hails from not-so privileged background, faced multiple challenges throughout his life. During the show he shared his inspiring journey, revealing the problems he has been through over the years.

Born with significant health complications, he underwent seven surgeries. He also revealed that financial constraints within family further motivated him to participate in KBC and support his family. It was his father’s encouragement that played a crucial role in keeping the moral high.

UPSC aspirant Chander plans to use his prize money to alleviate his family’s financial burdens and support his education.

In a video shared by Sony Entertainment Television on Instagram, Amitabh Bachchan is seen exclaiming "1 crore" as the audience stand up to applaud the winner. The caption read, "Iss season ke pehle Crorepati, Chander Parkash ko hum sab ki ore se hardik shubhkaamnaye (This season's first crorepati, best wishes to Chander Prakash from us)!"

Chander answered the crucial geography question about the largest city, which is a capital but serves as a port. Chander used the ‘Double Dip’ lifeline and guessed the right answer - Tanzania, securing his place as a Crorepati.
