Malayalam Actor Siddique: After the Kerala High Court rejected Malayalam Actor Siddique’s bail plea in the molestation case, he went missing. The police have launched a search operation and issued notice at all exit points across the country, especially at the airports, to prevent him from flying out of the country. A search party was also sent to his residence but to no avail. Meanwhile, Siddique’s son was spotted visiting legal firm Raman Pilla Associates, suggesting an appeal in the Supreme Court on behalf of him.
Though the actor’s phone has been switched off since then, in an interesting twist, the phone briefly became active on Wednesday when a news portal tried to call him. In their report, the portal mentioned, “The phone rang when Manorama News tried to contact him but was immediately disconnected.”
Amidst the search for Siddique, survivor Revathi Sampath posted a story on Instagram handle. The story, which netizens felt was targeting Siddique read, “Life is a boomerang. What you give, you get.”
While she got support from a large section of people, there were a few who trolled her. One of the comments on her post read, “Pls stop your lies and drama madam…tomorrow you will be punished by God.” Another person called her overconfident and wrote, “You are over reacting. Over confident and frustrated kind of psychic.”
Who is Revathi Sampath?
Revathi Sampath is a clinical psychologist turned actor, who made her debut with Atul Kulkarni’s ‘Mind Game’. She has starred is several Malayalam and Tamil films including a short film Waft. Revathi came in the spotlight when she accused well-known Malayalam actor Siddiqui of sexually abusing her in Mascot Hotel, Thiruvananthapuram. The case was initially registered by Thiruvananthapuram police and later handed over to Special Investigation Team.
Revathi Sampath’s Statement Against Malayalam Actor Siddique
In an interview, Revathi revealed what happened on day in question. “To build a sense of closeness, he kept talking about his acting career, his family and other personal topics. But then, without warning he charged on me and began to abuse,” shared Revathi.
She further informed that it took moments for her to process what is happening. “And when I tried to scream, he covered my mouth with his hand. He then coldly told me that situations like these happen all the time and warned me of the consequences if I did not cooperate. He made it clear that even if I lodge a complaint, no one would take it seriously. But despite that I resisted.”
Revathi also told the portal that Siddiqui tried to manipulate her by naming other actors, who allegedly cooperated with him.
What Followed?
As the case caught eyeballs, Siddique resigned from the position of General Secretary, Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA). Meanwhile, the court is reviewing proofs and witness statements submitted by the investigating team. The Public prosecutor also brought forth the proof that Siddique stayed with survivor in the mentioned hotel in 2012. This has further pushed Siddique in a tight spot. The actor, however, is continuously denying all the accusations, calling them a ‘conspiracy’ against him.
In the argument presented by Siddique’s lawyer, senior advocate B Raman Pillai argued that the charges were fabricated. He also pointed out that no mention of Rape was found in the initial complaint filed by the complainant.
