Tamannaah, widely recognized for her roles in popular films like 'Baahubali', has been scheduled to appear before the Cyber department on April 29. Her summoning comes as part of the ongoing investigation into the illegal broadcasting of IPL matches via the Fairplay app.

Prior to Tamannaah's summons, rapper and singer Badshah was questioned in connection with the same case. Additionally, actor Sanjay Dutt was also summoned earlier this week. However, Dutt has reportedly requested additional time before appearing before the department.

The controversy began when it was discovered that various celebrities had promoted the Fairplay app for streaming IPL matches, despite the app lacking official broadcasting rights. This promotion reportedly led to significant losses for the official IPL broadcasters.

Last September, an FIR was registered following a complaint by Viacom18, which holds the Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) for streaming IPL matches. Viacom18 alleged losses exceeding Rs 100 crore due to the illegal streaming on Fairplay.
