Officials have reported that more than 31,000 women and girls have gone missing in Madhya Pradesh over the past three years. According to official data, 28,857 women and 2,944 girls were reported missing in Madhya Pradesh between 2021 and 2024.

These statistics were revealed in the state assembly in response to a query from Congress MLA and former Home Minister Bala Bachchan.

According to the data, an average of 28 women and three girls go missing every day in Madhya Pradesh. Despite this alarming rate, only 724 missing cases have been officially registered. In Ujjain, 676 women have gone missing over the past 34 months, but surprisingly, not a single case has been registered.

In Sagar district, 245 cases of missing girls have been reported, marking the highest number in the state. Meanwhile, Indore has the highest number of missing women among all districts, with 2,384 cases. Shockingly, in Indore, despite 479 women missing for over a month, only 15 cases have been officially registered.
