 Retired Soldiers' Legacy

In Gahmar village in Gazipur, about 15,000 retired soldiers live there. Out of these, 42 have risen to ranks from Lieutenant to Brigadier. Right now, 35 people from this village hold the rank of Colonel. The village is split into 22 areas, each named after a soldier. The report shows that when you visit the village, it's clear that every young person is getting ready to join the army. Some are doing exercises, while others are running to stay in shape.

Daily Training, Special Track

In the village, 83-year-old wrestler Bali Singh trains the young people every day. The youths arrive at the field by 4 AM, and training goes on until 8 AM. To help them prepare, big halogen lights have been set up. Training also happens from 6 PM to 9 PM. Retired soldiers from the village have built a special 1600-meter track at Muthia ground for future army recruits. Young people who run seriously on this track are likely to be chosen for the army. Currently, 12,000 youths who trained here are serving in the armed forces.
