New Delhi: A passenger claimed to have found a cockroach in an omelette on an Air India flight from New Delhi to New York. The lady was traveling with her 2-year-old son and claimed to have suffered food poisoning and so did her child after she and her child consumed the meal.

She took social media to recount her experience stating that she found a cockroach in the omelet served on her Air India flight AI 101, from New Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport (DEL) to New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK), on September 17, 2024.

Passenger Took To X To Share Her Experience

The passenger, Suyesha Savant wrote, "My 2-year-old finished half of the omelette with me when we saw a cockroach. My family had food poisoning from that. @DGCAIndia @RamMNK".

She also posted a video accompanied by some pics where cockroaches are sitting on the food; she wrote to Air India, aviation regulator DGCA, and Civil Aviation Minister K Rammohan Naidu. The video attracted so much attention from netizens.

Air India Promises Investigation

The airline stated the incident, which it claims is concerned about the experience of its customer, and has been in contact with the catering service provider to gain more insights into the matter.

We are aware of a social media post by a passenger about a foreign object in their meal on AI 101 from DEL to JFK on September 17, 2024. Air India works with well-known caterers that provide meal supplies to a few of the world's leading airlines and maintain very strict protocols while meeting quality standards when supplying meals to our customers. We are concerned with customer experience in this particular case. We have reached out to our catering service provider to look into this further. "We will take all necessary steps to ensure such an incident would not occur in the future, " the statement said.
