All Tiger Reserves In Tiger Reserves Closed Until October; Here's Why

Madhya Pradesh: Starting July 1, all six tiger reserves in Madhya Pradesh will be closed to the public and tourists. The reserves affected include Bandhavgarh, Kanha, Pench, Satpura, Panna, and Sanjay-Dubri.

However, tiger safaris will still be available in the buffer zones of certain tiger reserves. Tourists will be prohibited from entering the core zones of national parks and tiger reserves for three months, with the restriction lasting until October 1.

According to reports, it is essential for tigers and tigresses to remain undisturbed during this period, as any disruption can make them aggressive. Therefore, the national parks are closed. Safaris will still be available in the buffer zones of other tiger reserves in Madhya Pradesh, allowing tourists to enjoy safaris during the rainy season. Notably, tigers and tigresses mate during the rains and prefer solitude during this time.

This is why parks are closed for two to three months during the rainy season. Additionally, driving on unpaved roads in parks or sanctuaries becomes very challenging during this time. The risk of accidents increases as vehicles can easily get stuck on the muddy roads inside the forest.
