Andhra Pradesh: Pawan Kalyan Eyes Deputy CM Role, May Get 3 Seats In Cabinet; BJP Likely To Get 2

The swearing-in ceremony is scheduled for June 12th, where N. Chandrababu Naidu of the TDP will be sworn in as Chief Minister, and Pawan Kalyan as Deputy Chief Minister, along with several cabinet ministers. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to attend this ceremony.

The formation of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government in Andhra Pradesh is gaining momentum. A meeting called in Vijayawada had been attended by TDP, Janasena, and BJP legislators, where unanimously Chandrababu Naidu had been elected as the leader of the NDA legislative party. During the meeting, Janasena chief Pawan Kalyan and BJP chief D. Purandeswari supported Chandrababu Naidu's nomination as the NDA's candidate for Chief Minister. Similarly, Pawan Kalyan, the founder of JSP, has been elected as the party's floor leader in the Assembly.

With Chandrababu Naidu's name confirmed as the leader of the NDA legislative party, the allocation of cabinet seats among coalition partners TDP-BJP and Janasena has also been settled.

According to sources, there are a total of 25 cabinet seats, out of which 20 will be allocated to TDP. Sources indicate that Pawan Kalyan was seeking the Deputy Chief Minister position and 5 cabinet seats for his party. Janasena has been given 3 cabinet seats along with the Deputy Chief Minister position.

In addition, BJP has been allotted only 2 seats. It is also reported that BJP legislators, including Narra Lokesh, are hesitant to take ministerial positions in the cabinet as they prefer to work within the party for now.

The legislative session of the Andhra Pradesh Assembly will commence on June 17th, following the formation of the government. It is expected to last for four days. On the first day, MLAs will take their oaths, followed by the election of the Speaker on the subsequent day.

In the recent Assembly elections in Andhra Pradesh, TDP won 135 out of 144 seats, while BJP secured 8 out of 10 seats it contested. The ruling party YSRCP was limited to 11 seats.
