A significant landslide occurred in Arunachal Pradesh on Thursday, resulting in the destruction of a section of the highway connecting to China's border and serving as the sole link between Dibhang Valley district and the rest of India.

Preliminary reports indicate extensive damage along the Roing Anini Highway between Hunli and Anini, as per information obtained by India Today.

Expressing concern, Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu addressed the incident via Twitter, acknowledging the inconvenience faced by commuters and issuing directives for prompt restoration of connectivity, given the highway's crucial role in connecting Dibang Valley to the rest of the country.

The landslide was attributed to heavy rainfall. The district administration notified residents of Dibhang Valley about the situation, indicating that repair work on the Roing Anini highway is anticipated to require a minimum of three days.

Residents were advised to exercise caution and remain indoors until the road is repaired and the weather conditions stabilize.
