In a major breakthrough in Mahalakshmi murder case, the police has said that the woman was likely killed by her colleague who she was in relationship with. A woman’s body was found dismembered into over 40 pieces from a fridge in her Bengaluru flat. It has been claimed that she was having an affair. Her husband, Hemant Das had said that a complaint was filed in Bengaluru several months ago, against her alleged lover.

The police has not revealed the name, but said that the 31-year-old man allegedly stabbed Mahalakshmi on suspicion that she was having an affair with another man.

The accused confided in his brother about the incident, his brother is among the three people who have been detained by the Bengaluru police in connection with the case, told the police officer to HT.

The deceased and the suspect man worked together in the same mall and had met in 2023, said the police. She had moved to Bengaluru after moving away from her husband.

“The two started seeing each other in late 2023,” added the officer.

This disclosure came after suspect’s brother told to police that his brother had confessed about the crime over a call. He had told that he is fleeing from the city. A police team has been formed to locate the suspect.

The suspect is from Odisha and the police has now moved to West Bengal where the suspect’s last location was traced.

According to police, the two had been in relationship which was confirmed by their colleagues also. The man had suspected her of having an affair with another man. An argument broke out between them when he confronted her and asked to end relation with the other man. This all escalated the matter and resulted in her murder.

His parents have been contacted in Odisha and police has said that they will arrest him soon.
