Kejriwal was arrested by the ED in a money laundering case related to an alleged liquor policy scam on March 21. He is currently incarcerated in Tihar Jail.

On Wednesday, the CBI requested custody of Kejriwal before the Rouse Avenue Court. However, the court noted that Kejriwal had not been formally arrested by the CBI yet.

Kejriwal's lawyer, Vikram Chaudhari, opposed the CBI's request, stating that he had not been informed about the CBI's application to the court and the subsequent order to question Kejriwal. He expressed serious concern over the procedural aspects and requested access to the relevant documents, urging the court to postpone the hearing until the following day. Kejriwal's counsel emphasized that there would be no catastrophic consequences if they were given time to prepare their response.

The CBI had taken Kejriwal's statement while he was in jail on June 25 and had requested his appearance before the trial court on Wednesday.
