Swami Prasad Maurya resigned from the Samajwadi Party, citing "ideological differences" with its chief, Akhilesh Yadav. He expressed concerns that Yadav was deviating from the party's socialist ideology. This move comes a week after Maurya stepped down from his role as national general secretary. He said "I believe in clean politics. I observed Akhilesh Yadav's actions, and it became evident to me that he was straying from socialist ideology. Having worked closely with Mulayam Singh Yadav, a steadfast socialist leader, I find it unfortunate that those tasked with upholding his legacy are unable to adhere to his principles."
