Bengaluru: At least two people were injured in a pressure cooker explosion in Bengaluru’s JP Nagar area, near the Udupi Upahara eatery, on Monday morning. The blast, which occurred around 10 a.m., left two men, identified as Sameer and Mohsin, with serious injuries. Both individuals, who are barbers originally from Uttar Pradesh, are currently receiving treatment.

Bengaluru Police Rule Out Terror Angle; NIA Steps In

Although there were initial concerns about a potential terror-related incident, Bengaluru police have confirmed that the blast was caused by a pressure cooker, not explosives. A senior police official mentioned that they have carefully reviewed the investigation materials and found no evidence of foul play.

Despite the police ruling out foul play, a team from the National Investigation Agency (NIA) arrived in Bengaluru on Wednesday to conduct a cross-examination of the site and collaborate with local authorities. The NIA’s involvement is aimed at ensuring that all possible angles are thoroughly investigated.

Previous Incident Raises Concerns

The explosion in JP Nagar follows another blast earlier this year in Bengaluru at the Rameshwaram Cafe in the Brookefield area, where an improvised explosive device (IED) injured at least 10 people. While the two incidents appear unrelated, the previous attack has heightened vigilance in the city.

The NIA and local police are working together to determine the exact cause of the JP Nagar blast and to ensure that all safety measures are in place to prevent similar incidents in the future.
