New Delhi: The DGCA has acted quickly after finding an aircraft engine part outside Delhi airport. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation has started an investigation. The metal part is thought to be from an Air India Express plane that recently made an emergency landing. The airline has not confirmed if the part belongs to its aircraft.

The DGCA has launched an investigation into the incident. A source mentioned that the parts are likely from a broken aircraft engine blade.

Air India Issues Clarification

“The issue was handled following the standard procedures, and a precautionary landing was made in Delhi,” the spokesperson said.

“We know about reports of metal pieces found at Shankar Vihar. We cannot confirm if these pieces are from our aircraft yet."

Delhi Police reported that Shivani Pathak from Vasant Vihar called to say metal pieces had fallen from an aircraft onto her property.

When officers arrived at the scene, the caller, a captain in the Indian Army, reported that an aircraft flew over and dropped some metal pieces. She handed over a small black metal fragment. A technical team will check if these metal pieces are from the same aircraft. Since this involves the airport authority, a case has been filed, and the investigation is ongoing.
