Under the plan, SpiceJet will move 13 of its flights to Terminal 1 from August 17 and IndiGo will relocate 34 flights operated out of Terminals 2 and 3 to Terminal 1 from September 2.

However, till then, Terminal 1 was used only for IndiGo and SpiceJet flights until the collapse of a canopy on June 28 caused by heavy rain led to one death.

Some of the new features of this refurbished Terminal 1 are the new signage and on-road markings that have been done to guide the passengers. Security has also been tightened with guards from the firm RAXA. The terminal has the service of 'Queue-Buster: Mobile Check-in Service' extended to passengers so they can avoid long queues at the check-in counter.

SpiceJet passengers will use entry gate A on the ground floor, while IndiGo passengers will use entry gates 5 and 6 on the first floor. All the arrival will be made through the ground floor, and all the passengers will leave the terminal through the same route.
