Delhi Congress Chief Arvinder Singh Lovely Resigns, Cites Interference In Party Affairs

In his resignation letter to Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge, Lovely conveyed that he felt 'handicapped' and was unable to carry on as the president of the Delhi Congress unit.

Arvinder Singh Lovely, the Delhi Congress chief, resigned from his post, citing continuous interference from the party's general secretary in-charge, Deepak Babaria.

In his resignation letter to Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge, Lovely expressed feeling "handicapped" and unable to continue as the president of the Delhi Congress unit.

He mentioned several instances in which many Delhi Congress leaders objected to Babaria's management of affairs. However, Lovely said he faced tremendous pressure to expel the disgruntled leaders opposed to Babaria.

Arvinder Singh Lovely also noted that the entire state unit of Congress opposed the party's alliance with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Delhi.

"In his resignation letter, he stated that the Delhi Congress Unit objected to allying with a party that had been established solely to level false, fabricated, and malicious corruption charges against the Congress party. Furthermore, half of their cabinet ministers are in jail on corruption charges,"

Arvinder Singh Lovely stated that despite reservations about the alliance, he respected the party's decision and ensured the Delhi Congress unit followed the high command's directive. He emphasized going as far as visiting Mr. Kejriwal's (Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal) residence on the night of his arrest.
