Delhi Sizzles As temperature Soars Beyond 38°Celsius, Yellow Alert For Rain Issued
New Delhi: Following the onset of the monsoon, temperature of Delhi has soared past 38 degrees Celsius again. The combined heat and humidity have made it challenging for people to stay outdoors. Daytime sunshine has intensified the heat, while the humidity has caused discomfort at night. Despite the intense heat, a yellow alert for rain has been issued in Delhi today.
Since Thursday morning, there has been intense sunshine, and humidity levels ranged from 55 to 100 percent. By noon, the maximum temperature had reached 38.8 degrees Celsius, three degrees above the average. The minimum temperature was 27.2 degrees, which is within the normal range. The wet-bulb temperature climbed to 30 degrees, with a wet-bulb temperature exceeding 32 degrees known to negatively impact public health. This measure is calculated based on the humidity and temperature.

The Meteorological Department forecasts cloudy skies on Friday with a chance of light to moderate rain, accompanied by a yellow alert. Strong winds, ranging from 25 to 35 kilometers per hour, may occur. Temperatures are expected to reach a high of 36°C and a low of 28°C. From July 13 to 17, only light rain is anticipated, with persistent clouds. During this period, maximum temperatures will range from 34°C to 36°C, and minimum temperatures will be between 26°C to 28°C.

As per Skymet, the monsoon season has witnessed nearly normal rainfall due to a single day of heavy rain in June. The upcoming week may also see a deficiency in rainfall, with mostly dry weather expected. The monsoon trough at the lower level is anticipated to move north of its usual position, leading to weaker monsoon rains. Consequently, Delhi and most parts of Punjab, Haryana, and Rajasthan will experience significantly reduced rainfall in the next week.
