Delhi-NCR And UP-Bihar Brace For Heavy Rainfall, IMD Issues Warning

The monsoon has now reached the entire country, including Delhi-NCR. Every region has experienced its first monsoon rain. The rainfall in Delhi two days ago was equivalent to four months of rain. However, since Friday, residents have been waiting for more rain.

Despite the Meteorological Department's orange alert for rain on Saturday and Sunday, Saturday remained completely dry without a single drop of water. Besides Delhi, many states like UP, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, and Bihar are also expected to receive rain again today.

On Saturday, Delhi stayed cloudy all day with no wind, but it didn't rain. This left people dealing with humid heat throughout the day, waiting for rain. The Meteorological Department predicts moderate to heavy rain in Delhi today and heavy rain on Monday. According to the IMD, Delhi might see heavy rain for the next seven days. On Friday, the capital recorded 228.1 mm of rain, the highest in June since 1936.

Due to the absence of rain and high humidity in many places, maximum temperatures have risen. In Delhi, the maximum temperature reached 40 degrees Celsius with a minimum of 32 degrees. Noida saw a maximum of 40 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 30 degrees. Patna recorded a maximum of 39 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 28 degrees. Lucknow had a maximum of 37 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 28 degrees.

Bhopal, the capital of Madhya Pradesh, experienced a maximum temperature of 29 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 25 degrees. Jammu recorded a maximum of 44 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 31 degrees. Mumbai saw a maximum of 30 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 28 degrees. Jaipur, the capital of Rajasthan, had a maximum of 37 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 28 degrees.

The Meteorological Department predicts heavy rains in Delhi-NCR, Northwest India, and Northeastern states over the next 4 to 5 days. The southwest monsoon, moving from the Arabian Sea, has progressed over parts of East-West Uttar Pradesh. According to the IMD, heavy rainfall is expected in Delhi, Haryana, Chandigarh, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, and Eastern Rajasthan from June 30 to July 3. Western Rajasthan and Bihar are likely to experience heavy rains on July 2 and 3.

In the southern states, Kerala, Karnataka, Goa, Gujarat, and Madhya Maharashtra are expected to receive moderate rains with thunderstorms over the next five days. During this period, Puducherry, Rayalaseema, Telangana, coastal Andhra Pradesh, and Marathwada are likely to experience light to moderate rains.
