While the Friday prayers were ongoing, a group of police officers arrived at the scene and tried to scatter the crowd. A video capturing the incident depicted one of the officers kicking and striking men who were in the midst of their prayers, kneeling down.

The incident triggered significant outrage, with the crowd surrounding the police officer and protesting against his actions. Deputy Commissioner of Police (North) MK Meena released a statement acknowledging the incident and confirming that an investigation into the matter has been launched in response.
Congress Rajya Sabha MP Imran Pratapgarhi posted a video of the incident, expressing his concern "This Delhi Police soldier kicking a person while offering namaz probably does not understand the basic principles of humanity. What is this hatred that is filled in the heart of this soldier? Delhi Police is requested to file a case against this official under appropriate sections and terminate his service"
