Fake Currency Racket Inspired By Web Series 'Farzi' Busted In Karnataka; 6 Arrested

In Karnataka, six individuals from Belagavi district have been arrested by the police for their involvement in producing and distributing counterfeit currency. Officials revealed that the gang took inspiration from the Hindi web series 'Farzi'.

Karnataka: The Karnataka Police has arrested six individuals from Belagavi district who were part of a gang engaged in producing and distributing counterfeit currency, officials reported on Wednesday. They also mentioned that the gang drew inspiration from the Hindi web series 'Farzi'.

The apprehended suspects, identified as Anwar Yadawad, Saddam Yadalli, Ravi Hyagadi, Dundappa Onashenavi, Vittal Hosathotal, and Mallappa Kundali, were involved in manufacturing counterfeit currency or fake currency with denominations of Rs 100 and Rs 500.

The gang was apprehended when police arrived to confiscate a car at Kadabagatti Gudda in Gokak town. Inside the vehicle, authorities discovered 305 counterfeit Rs 100 notes and 6,792 counterfeit Rs 500 notes.

An initial investigation and interrogation of the suspects revealed that the gang was producing the counterfeit currency at a house in Arabhavi, Mudalagi taluk, during the night.

Bheemashankar Guled, the Belagavi SP, stated that the police seized counterfeit currency notes, a printer, a screening board, paint, printing paper, and six mobile phones, amounting to a total value of Rs 5,23,900. A case has been filed at the Gokak police station in connection with the incident.

Further investigation into the case is ongoing.
