FIR Against Air India Passenger For Endangering 200+ Lives By Smoking Mid-Flight

Air India has filed a case against one of its passengers for endangering the lives of over 200 passengers by smoking a cigarette in the plane's toilet. This incident occurred while the flight was cruising at an altitude of approximately 30,000 feet, causing panic among both passengers and crew.

Upon landing at Mumbai airport, airport security detained the accused, identified as Arjun Thalore. Following a written complaint from the crew, Sahar police arrested Arjun. This marks the second such incident this month. The flight, en route from Jaipur to Mumbai, saw the 34-year-old Rajasthan native apprehended for smoking in the toilet.

Air India took serious action against the passenger

Crew members reported to the police that Arjun began smoking in the toilet while the plane was in flight. When the smell of smoke was detected, they opened the door and discovered him smoking. Despite clear instructions prohibiting such behavior, Arjun violated the rules. After issuing a warning, the crew lodged a complaint with airport authorities as the flight landed.

Airport security promptly detained Arjun and handed him over to the police. Upon receiving the information, Sahar Police Station officers arrived at the scene, registered a complaint, and took him into custody. Arjun faces charges under Section 336 of the Indian Penal Code (endangering life or personal safety of others) and Section 25 of the Aircraft Rules, with strict action demanded against him.

In a similar incident on May 8, a 51-year-old passenger was caught smoking in the toilet of a Vistara flight from Muscat to Mumbai. The pilot detected the smoke through the plane's smoke detector and alerted the crew, who found cigarette butts in the wash basin when they inspected the toilet.
