A shocking incident from Hapur, Uttar Pradesh has sent shockwaves across the country and has raised questions against the healthcare system. A doctor in a government hospital left surgical needle inside a girl’s head while stitching an injury, prompting a medical negligence in the case.

The 18-year-old girl identified as Sitara was taken to Community Health Centre after she suffered head injury during clash with neighbours. The doctors told that a stitch would be required to perform.

They stitched her head and sent her home. However, after reaching home, the girl started screaming with pain and she was rushed to a private hospital.

The doctors opened her wound and were stunned to find a needle inside her head. They took out the needle and stitched again.

The girl’s mother has accused that the doctor of Community Health Centre was 'drunk'. She stressed that she wants an action. “We don’t want a similar situation to happen to anyone else. We want immediate action,” said the girl’s mother.

Chief Medical Officer of Hapur, Dr. Sunil Kumar Tyagi informed that they are acquainted with the incident that took place in Community Health Centre. He said that investigation has been ordered and action will be taken up after they get the report. He has formed a two-member team to probe the incident.

On asked about the incident, a senior medical official said to TOI, “There is no such doctor in the district and the doctor in this case doesn’t drink at all.”

The mother of the girl informed that her daughter is stable now.
