Haryana Assembly Elections: Olympians Manu Bhaker And Vinesh Phogat Cast Their Votes, Urge Larger Voter Turnout

Paris Olympic Medalist Manu Bhaker voted for the first time in Haryana Assembly Election.

Haryana Assembly Elections across 90 constituencies began at 7am today. BJP, Congress and AAP, JJP are the major parties in this election fray. While the BJP is eyeing for third term in power, Congress aims to get back to the political seat citing anti-incumbency.

People have turned out at polling booth from morning. Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, Haryana CM Nayab Singh Saini, Congress Candidate, Paris Olympic Medalist Manu Bhaker also arrived to cast their votes.

Speaking to ANI about her first voting experience, Olympic Medalist Manu Bhaker said, “Being the youth of this country, it is our responsibility to cast our vote for the most favourable candidate. Small steps lead to big goals, I voted for the first time.”

She said whoever we feel is the best candidate, we should vote for them, our small steps leads to great height. We have to decide and choose who will be our representative, added Manu.

About her voting experience, Manu said, “This was the first time I got the opportunity to vote and I was excited about it.”

She told that she had visited the polling booth earlier with her parents but didn’t know much about the polling process but after casting vote she is now aware.

Congress candidate from Julana Assembly Constituency Vinesh Phogat also cast her vote.

Speaking to ANI, Vinesh said, “It is a huge festival for Haryana and a very big day for the people of the state. I am making an appeal to the people of the state to come out and cast their votes. 10 years ago, when Bhupinder Hooda was the CM, the level of sports in the state was really good. It is not in my hands (to become a minister), it is in the hands of the high command.”

She added, “Vote for the party that works for rights of women, you all know which party I am speaking of. Hope of victory is always there, today is the day to vote. People have not forgotten what the BJP did to the farmers and others.”

Polling is underway in Haryana.
