Hyderabad: Couple Killed Hours After Birthday Celebration As Car Rams Parked Truck

A woman and her husband died in a road accident at Mukundapuram in Suryapet district, near Hyderabad, just hours after celebrating her birthday. Their car collided with a stationary container truck on the national highway. Police suspect Naveen, the driver, may have dozed off. A case was filed against the truck driver.

A woman and her husband tragically died in a road accident at Mukundapuram in Suryapet district, near Hyderabad, shortly after celebrating her birthday. Their car collided with a stationary container truck on the national highway, resulting in severe damage. Despite efforts by police using cranes and JCBs, it took nearly two hours to extricate the badly damaged car. Unfortunately, the couple, identified as S Naveen Raj, 29, and his wife Bhargavi, 27, did not survive.

Inspector Ramakrishna Reddy of Munagala police station stated that Naveen was driving back to Vijayawada when the accident occurred. They had been in Hyderabad to celebrate Bhargavi’s birthday with relatives and a friend and were returning home the next morning. Police are investigating whether Naveen had fallen asleep while driving. CCTV footage showed the car colliding with the parked truck without attempting to avoid it. The truck driver had parked without activating the parking indicator and had fallen asleep inside the vehicle. Despite efforts by locals, the couple could not be rescued immediately due to the severity of the accident.

Naveen, a lecturer at a private Intermediate college, leaves behind a devastated family. A case has been registered against the truck driver under section 304-A (negligence causing death) of the Indian Penal Code for parking the vehicle on the highway.
