IndiGo Passenger Faces Legal Action For Smoking In Lavatory During Delhi-Mumbai Flight

An official speaking to news agency PTI charged a 38-year-old man after he smoked inside the lavatory of an IndiGo flight from Delhi bound for Mumbai on June 26. The incident occurred on June 26.

The IndiGo flight departed from Delhi Airport at approximately 5:15 pm with 176 passengers on board. About 50 minutes before reaching Mumbai airport, a passenger named Khalil Kajammul Khan, who resides in Uttar Pradesh, went to the restroom.

The cabin crew was notified by smoke sensors when Khan smoked a cigarette inside the restroom, according to the official.

Upon exiting, crew members inspected the lavatory and discovered a matchstick and a cigarette stub, which they promptly reported to their superiors.

When questioned by the crew members, Khan confessed to smoking inside the lavatory.

After the plane landed at Mumbai airport, security personnel notified authorities and escorted Khan to Sahar police station. According to the official, they have charged him under the Indian Penal Code and Aircraft Rules.
