Instagram Friendship Turns Deadly: A man held a young woman, who owns a beauty parlour in Gujarat's Bharuch district, hostage at knifepoint after they became friends on Instagram.

Prakash Dashrath, from Patan, entered a woman's beauty parlour and threatened her with a knife after she stopped communicating with him. The two had become friends through Instagram, but when the woman decided to end contact, Prakash became angry. He went to her parlour in Vagra market and held her at knifepoint. Fearing for her life, the woman managed to alert the parlour owner through a message.

After receiving the woman's distress message, the beauty parlour owner quickly informed the Vagra police. Officers arrived promptly, broke through the parlour's glass door, and rescued the woman. They arrested Prakash Dashrath at the scene. The woman was safely evacuated, and the police have filed a formal complaint against him.

Police Warns People From Social Media Friends

After the incident, Police Sub-Inspector A.K. Jadeja of Vagra police station issued a public advisory, warning people to be careful when interacting with strangers on social media. He explained that such interactions can lead to dangerous situations, as seen in this case. Authorities also urged responsible use of social media to prevent similar incidents in the future.

Another Incident Reported From Bharuch

In another incident reported from Bharuch on Thursday, a physical education teacher at an international school on National Highway No. 48 was sentenced to 10 years in prison for sexually assaulting a first-grade student in 2017. The POCSO court gave the verdict after reviewing strong evidence, hearing arguments from the chief public prosecutor, and considering medical reports. The court also fined the teacher ₹1.5 lakh and ordered ₹2 lakh in compensation for the victim.

The incident took place on December 12, 2017, during the victim's regular school session from 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Her mother sent her to school in a private van at around 6:15 a.m. Later that afternoon, the child returned home and told her family about the assault. After learning about it, the victim's mother reported the incident to the local police.

After the complaint, the police arrested the accused, Prithvisinh Dilipsinh Ambaliya, and submitted a charge sheet to the POCSO court. The investigation uncovered that the teacher had been involved in several instances of inappropriate behavior with children.
