The Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police prevented a major accident on Tuesday after a bus carrying Amarnath Yatra pilgrims lost control on National Highway 44 in Ramban district. The bus, traveling from Amarnath to Hoshiarpur, reportedly had brake failure. The pilgrims were from Punjab.

A video shared on social media shows numerous pilgrims jumping out of a moving bus. Prompt action by security forces stopped the bus from going into the gorge. Officials confirmed no fatalities occurred in the incident.

Officials stated that the bus had 40 pilgrims heading back to Hoshiarpur, Punjab. They explained that upon reaching Nachlana near Banihal, the driver couldn't stop the bus because its brakes had failed. Ten individuals were injured in the incident, comprising six men, three women, and one child.

Upon seeing the pilgrims jumping from the moving bus, Army troops and police acted quickly. According to unnamed officials quoted by news agency PTI, they halted the bus from potentially falling into the stream by placing stones under its tires.

The Army's Quick Reaction Teams, accompanied by an ambulance, arrived at the scene and gave medical aid and first aid to all the injured individuals, as per officials.

The shocking scenes from the Jammu incident depicted people leaping out of the bus, with security forces chasing after the vehicle to prevent it from plunging into the gorge.
