K L Sharma's Daughter Responds to Smriti Irani's Insults with Amethi Victory

Following Congress candidate Kishori Lal Sharma's victory over Union Minister Smriti Irani in Amethi, his daughter Anjali responded to the BJP leader's remarks by affirming that regardless of Irani's insults, the election results speak for themselves.

Sharma's resounding win saw Congress reclaiming the seat from the BJP by a substantial margin of over 1.67 lakh votes. Anjali's comments were captured in a widely circulated video where she stated, 'Smriti Irani can label my father however she pleases—peon, proxy, servant, ant—but the numbers speak for themselves.'

She also remarked, 'She even imitated Priyanka Gandhi, which was quite amusing.'

Reflecting on his victory in Amethi, Sharma emphasized that it signifies the triumph of the people of Amethi and the enduring legacy of the Gandhi family. He conveyed to PTI that the Amethi constituency holds immense significance as a trust of the Gandhi family, and he is committed to ensuring that this trust remains intact without any betrayal.

Sharma, known for his close association with the Gandhi family, has been entrusted with the responsibility of overseeing both Raebareli and Amethi. Historically, Amethi has been a stronghold of the Gandhi family. However, in 2019, Irani shattered this stronghold by defeating Rahul Gandhi with a margin exceeding 55,000 votes. This marked the first instance where a member of the Gandhi family did not contest the Lok Sabha elections from this constituency.
