Kolkata Rape-Murder Case: Was anyone stationed at the seminar hall door at Kolkata's RG Kar Medical College and Hospital while the trainee doctor was being raped and tortured inside? How did this horrific crime happen without interruption, and why did no one hear the victim's cries for help during the abuse?

The CBI is investigating how the August 9 rape and murder of a 31-year-old trainee doctor at RG Kar Hospital was carried out without interruption. The officers found that the seminar hall door's tower bolt was broken, raising questions about how the crime happened and why there was no disturbance or noise.

CBI Examines If Guard Was Posted Outside Seminar Hall During Attack

The CBI is also investigating whether someone was stationed outside the door as a “guard” while Sanjay Roy raped and killed the victim. The investigators, who found the tower bolt on the door was broken, are questioning why no sounds were heard from inside the seminar hall during the attack. A CBI officer said they are examining CCTV footage to verify if someone was posted outside to guard while the crime took place.

Seminar Hall Door Malfunction Prevented Victim From Locking It

The officer said that initial findings suggest the seminar hall door had been malfunctioning for a while due to the broken tower bolt. The victim entered the hall between 2 AM and 3 AM on August 9, and a doctor on duty saw her asleep inside. Interviews with doctors and staff revealed that the door’s malfunction was a known problem, which prevented the victim from locking it that night.

On Friday, the CBI continued questioning former RG Kar principal Sandip Ghosh about the case. The agency also brought the arrested suspect, Sanjay Roy, to court, where he was placed in 14-day jail custody.
