Lok Sabha 2024: Poll Code Violation Case Filed Against Amit Shah In Telangana

A complaint filed by the Telangana Congress unit has led to a case being filed against Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Telangana, accusing him of violating election rules.

Niranjan Reddy, the vice president of the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC), claimed in a complaint to the state's Chief Electoral Officer that during a BJP rally on May 1st, some children were observed on the stage alongside Amit Shah.

Niranjan Reddy mentioned that during the rally, a child was spotted holding a BJP symbol, which he deemed a breach of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC).

Reddy's email to the Telangana CEO also asserted that the Election Commission had recently instructed political parties not to engage children or involve them in election-related campaigns or activities.

The election officials forwarded Niranjan Reddy's complaint to the Hyderabad police for a factual report. Subsequently, an FIR was lodged against Amit Shah on Thursday based on this complaint.

Other individuals named as accused in the matter include senior BJP leader G Kishan Reddy, legislator T Raja Singh, and T Yaman Singh.

The case was registered under IPC Section 188, which pertains to the violation of an order issued by a public servant. Further investigation into the matter is currently underway.

Madhavi Latha has been nominated by the BJP to contest from the Hyderabad Lok Sabha constituency. She will be challenging the incumbent MP and AIMIM chief, Asaduddin Owaisi.

Hyderabad is scheduled to go to polls in the fourth phase of the Lok Sabha elections on May 13th.
