Lok Sabha 2024: Samajwadi Party Announces 6th List Of Candidates

Ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, Samajwadi Party on Sunday announced the names of the two candidates from Uttar Pradesh.

Notably, after the announcement of sixth list, the total tally of the candidates announced by the Samajwadi Party stands at 39.

As per the official statement released by the party, ST Hasan will contest the upcoming elections from Moradabad, while the party fielded Deepak Saini from Bijnor seat.

On March 16, the Samajwadi Party (SP) unveiled its fifth list of candidates for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, featuring five contenders. In this latest announcement, Akhilesh Yadav's party nominated Dharmendra Yadav for the Azamgarh constituency and replaced its candidate for the Misrikh seat with Manoj Kumar Raghvanshi.

Additionally, SP named Dr. Mahendra Nagar as its candidate for the Gautam Buddha Nagar (Noida) constituency, Bheem Nishad for Sultanpur, Jitendra Dohre for Etawah, and Narayan Das Ahriwar for Jalaun.

Dr. Nagar, hailing from the Gurjar community, will challenge incumbent MP Mahesh Sharma, who is also a physician, for a third consecutive term in Noida. Nagar, previously associated with the Congress party, brings a medical background to his candidacy.

The previous day, on March 15, SP announced the names of six Lok Sabha candidates from Uttar Pradesh. Notably, the party allocated the Bhadohi Lok Sabha seat to the Trinamool Congress led by Mamata Banerjee, which nominated Laliteshpati Tripathi for the constituency.

With the addition of these candidates, SP's tally of declared candidates reached 37, according to the party's chief spokesperson Rajendra Chaudhary. Following the electoral alliance between the INDIA bloc members, SP had already conceded 17 Lok Sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh to the Congress, a state which holds 80 parliamentary constituencies.

Among the seats ceded to Congress are Raebareli and Amethi, once strongholds of the party, as well as Varanasi, the constituency of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
