Rahul Gandhi is maintaining suspense regarding contesting from the prominent Amethi seat in Uttar Pradesh, stating that the decision lies with the Congress Central Election Committee (CEC), and he will adhere to its verdict. Despite the BJP re-nominating Smriti Irani from the Amethi seat, formerly a stronghold of Rahul Gandhi, the Congress has not yet announced its candidate.

There has been widespread speculation that Rahul Gandhi, who has been re-nominated by the Congress from Kerala's Wayanad, might also decide to contest from Amethi. Rahul Gandhi has secured victory in the Amethi constituency for three consecutive terms since 2004. Nevertheless, in 2019, Smriti Irani emerged victorious by a margin of 55,000 votes, earning herself the moniker of 'giant slayer'.

During the press conference, the Congress leader remarked that there was a notable undercurrent favoring the INDIA bloc, suggesting that the BJP would be restricted to merely 150 seats. He stated, "Approximately 15–20 days ago, I believed the BJP would secure around 180 seats, but now I anticipate they will receive 150 seats. We are receiving reports from every state indicating our progress. Our alliance in Uttar Pradesh is robust, and we are poised for a strong performance."
