Chief Electoral Officer Sanjay Kaul announced on Saturday that they had received a total of 2,09,661 complaints regarding violations of the model code of conduct in Kerala, with action being taken in 2,06,152 cases.

Sanjay Kaul stated that they received the complaints through the cVIGIL mobile app set up by the Election Commission. He mentioned that they received the complaints from March 16 to April 20, and they are currently processing 426 of them.

The majority of complaints received through the cVIGIL were about unauthorized posters, banners, boards, wall writings, posters lacking mandatory information, property vandalism, unauthorized monetary transactions, unauthorized use of vehicles, distribution of alcohol, gifting, weapon display, and hate speeches.

According to the statement, they dismissed 3,083 complaints as baseless out of the total received.

The Chief Election Officer stated that the public can use the cVIGIL (Citizens Vigil) application to send complaints regarding violations. He assured that immediate action would be taken on complaints submitted through the app.

Additionally, the Chief Electoral officer mentioned that they would keep the identity of the complainant confidential.
