Man Shot At Congress MLA Pradeep Chaudhary’s Convoy In Haryana’s Kalka

New Delhi: Haryana Police reported firing during Congress MLA Pradeep Chaudhary’s convoy in Kalka on Friday, September 20, 2024. Reportedly, three men had opened fire at the convoy of the Congress nominee from Kalka assembly constituency. Bullets pierced the chest of a man named Goldy who was with the crowd. Another person was also injured.

Unidentified men fired shots

The victim along with the other person was seated in a car when three unidentified men came and fired shots. Goldy hailed from Khera village in Haryana. He was rushed to a nearby hospital. The matter is under police investigation now.

Haryana state assembly elections are scheduled to be held on October  5, 2024. Chaudhary is a sitting MLA from Kalka which falls under the Panchkula district.

Chaudhary had become MLA from Kalka for the second time in 2019. He had defeated BJP candidate Latika Sharma by a margin of 5931 votes.  He had secured 45.26% votes, which was a 29.90% jump from the preceding poll in 2019. In the upcoming assembly elections, he is set to contest his seat against Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Shakti Rani Sharma. It was not long time ago that Chaudhary had targeted the BJP nominee for luring votes through drugs and money in the constituency.

Notably, other parties had recently pulled out from contesting the assembly elections at Kalka. They withdrew their candidates’ names after making public announcements. Now only seven candidates will be contesting.  Arvind Kejriwal’s Aam Aadmi Party has fielded retired police officer Om Prakash Gujjar (61) for the assembly constituency.
