Mohan Majhi Takes Oath As Odisha's First BJP Chief Minister
Bhubaneswar: BJP tribal leader and four-time MLA Mohan Charan Majhi was sworn in today as Odisha's Chief Minister. The swearing-in ceremony took place at Janata Maidan in Bhubaneswar . Mohan Majhi is the first BJP Chief Minister of the state. The event was attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, several Union Ministers and Chief Ministers of several BJP-ruled states.
Today Mr. Majhi met former Prime Minister Naveen Patnaik and invited him to the inauguration ceremony. He traveled to Naveen Niwas, Patnaik's residence in Bhubaneswar, where he formally extended the invitation. The Odisha government also announced that its offices in Bhubaneswar will remain closed from 1 pm on Wednesday for the inauguration ceremony.
Meanwhile, tight security measures have been put in place for the inauguration ceremony, with a total of 67 police forces deployed. In the recently concluded state assembly elections, the BJP won 78 out of 147 seats while the BJD won 51 seats.
