MP CM Mohan Yadav's government has decided that both the Chief Minister and ministers will now personally file their income taxes, a departure from the previous practice where the government handled this responsibility. This move aims to enhance transparency and reduce the state's financial burden.

Before this, in 1972, the Madhya Pradesh government had mandated that Chief Ministers and ministers file their income taxes. Now, after 52 years, the BJP-led Mohan Yadav government has changed this rule. All ministers in the cabinet consented to the decision. Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav stated that from now on, ministers themselves will file their income taxes instead of the government. In the financial year 2023-24, the Madhya Pradesh government levied ₹79.07 lakh in income taxes from 35 representatives, including ministers and the Speaker of the Assembly. In the last five years alone, the government has spent ₹3.24 crore on income taxes of Chief Ministers and ministers.
