Nandigram Erupts In Tension After Female BJP Worker Killed In TMC Clash, Central Forces Deployed

In Nandigram, BJP workers staged a protest by burning tires and blocking the road with tree branches. From the morning, BJP supporters gathered in front of the Nandigram police station. Later, the SDPO summoned the protesters, and they, led by Meghnath Pal, engaged in discussions with the SDPO.

A clash erupted between Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Trinamool Congress (TMC) workers in Nandigram, West Bengal, resulting in the death of a female BJP worker, Rathibala Aadi. In addition, seven BJP workers sustained injuries. The incident occurred late at night on May 22 in Sonchura, Nandigram. TMC workers allegedly attacked the BJP workers with sharp weapons. Following the incident, tension gripped the area, prompting the deployment of central forces to control the situation.

Today in Nandigram, BJP workers protested and blocked the road following the death of a party worker in an attack by miscreants. The protesters burned tires, threw tree branches, and obstructed the road. Since morning, BJP supporters had been demonstrating in front of the Nandigram police station. Subsequently, the SDPO called the protesters, and Meghnath Pal led them in discussions with the SDPO.

The protesters demanded the removal of the officer in charge of the Reyapara outpost and the deployment of central forces in minority-dominated areas of Nandigram on the day of polling. The police assured them of swift action against any election-related violence.
