NDA Lost Majority Of Seats In Maharashtra Where PM Modi Campaigned

The BJP managed to win only nine seats in Maharashtra, a significant decrease from the 23 seats it secured in the 2019 election.

Despite the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) achieving a majority in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, paving the way for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's third term, the BJP's poor showing in Maharashtra has emerged as a significant issue ahead of the state elections.

The BJP was able to win just nine seats in the state, a significant drop from the 23 seats it secured in the 2019 election.

According to data from the Election Commission (EC), the NDA did not succeed in most of the constituencies where Prime Minister Modi campaigned. Despite PM Modi holding multiple public meetings and a roadshow in 18 Lok Sabha seats in Maharashtra, the NDA only managed to win three of those seats, losing in the remaining 15.

Mumbai

Prime Minister Narendra Modi held public meetings in six Lok Sabha seats. However, the alliance only secured victories in two of these seats. The BJP's Piyush Goyal won in Mumbai North, and Ravindra Waikar emerged victorious in Mumbai North West. Additionally, the Prime Minister held a roadshow in the Ghatkopar area of the Mumbai North East Lok Sabha constituency. Despite this, BJP candidate Mihir Kotecha was defeated by Shiv Sena (UBT) candidate Sanjay Dina Patil by a margin of 29,861 votes.

Pune

Prime Minister Modi held a public meeting to support BJP candidate Murlidhar Mohol, who defeated Congress's Ravindra Dhangekar by over one lakh votes.

Nashik

PM Modi campaigned for Shiv Sena (Shinde group) candidate Hemant Godse, who was defeated by Shiv Sena (UBT) candidate Rajabhau Waje by over one lakh votes.

Nanded

PM Modi addressed a public meeting for sitting MP and BJP candidate Pratap Govindrao Chikhalikar Patil, but he lost to Congress's Vasantrao Balwantrao Chavan.

Chandrapur

PM Modi campaigned for BJP candidate and state cabinet minister Sudhir Mungantiwar, who was defeated by Congress's Pratibha Dhanorkar by over two lakh votes. Dhanorkar received 718,410 votes, while Mungantiwar got 458,004 votes.

Ramtek

PM Modi held a public meeting for Shiv Sena candidate Raju Devnath Parwe, who was defeated by Congress's Shyam Kumar Barve. Barve received 613,025 votes, while Parwe got 536,257 votes.

Wardha

PM Modi campaigned for BJP candidate Ramdas Tadas, who was defeated by NCP (SP) candidate Amar Kale. Kale secured 533,106 votes, while Tadas received 451,458 votes.

Parbhani

Prime Minister Modi campaigned, but Shiv Sena (UBT) candidate Sanjay (Bandu) Jadhav won by a significant margin, defeating RSP's Mahadev Jankar by over one lakh votes.

Kolhapur

PM Modi held a public meeting on April 27 for sitting MP and Shiv Sena (Shinde faction) candidate Sanjay Mandlik, who was defeated by Congress's Shahu Maharaj Chhatrapati by over one lakh votes.

Solapur

PM Modi campaigned for BJP candidate Ram Satpute, who lost to Congress's Praniti Shinde. She received 620,225 votes, while Satpute got 546,028 votes.

Satara

PM Modi held a public meeting in Karad for BJP candidate Udayanraje Bhosale, who successfully defeated NCP (SP) candidate Shashikant Shinde.

Madha

PM Modi campaigned for BJP candidate Ranjitsinh Naik Nimbalkar, who was defeated by NCP (SP) candidate Dharisheel Mohite Patil by over one lakh votes.

Dharashiv (Osmanabad)

Prime Minister Modi addressed a public meeting for NCP (Ajit Pawar) candidate Archana Patil, who was defeated by Shiv Sena (UBT) candidate Omraj Nimbalkar.

Latur

PM Modi campaigned for BJP candidate Sudhakar Shringare, who lost to Congress's Shivaji Kalge by 61,881 votes.

Ahmednagar

PM Modi held a public meeting for BJP candidate Sujay Vikhe, who was defeated by NCP (SP) candidate Nilesh Lanka by 28,929 votes.

Beed

PM Modi campaigned for BJP candidate Pankaja Munde, who narrowly lost to NCP (SP) candidate Bajrang Sonawane by 6,553 votes.

Nandurbar

PM Modi sought votes for BJP candidate Hina Gavit, who was defeated by Congress's Gowal Padvi by over one lakh votes.

Kalyan

PM Modi held a public meeting for Shiv Sena (Shinde group) candidate Shrikant Shinde, who won by over two lakh votes, defeating Shiv Sena (UBT) candidate Vaishali Darekar.

Dindori

PM Modi campaigned for BJP candidate and Union Minister of State Bharti Pawar, who was defeated by NCP (SP) leader Bhaskar Bhagre by over one lakh votes.
