Elections dates

The upcoming general elections of 2024 are slated to take place from April 19 to June 1, 2024, in seven phases. The counting of the votes will take place on June 4, announced the Election commission of India.

However, the Model Code of Conduct will now be enforced.

Earlier this year, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish returned to the NDA again after breaking his alliance with his Mahagathbandhan (INDIA Alliance) partners Congress and RJD.

Nitish Kumar's decision to rejoin the NDA and establish a new government in Bihar provided a significant boost to the BJP. Previously, the BJP found itself isolated after the JD(U) chief formed the Grand Alliance with the Congress, RJD, and other parties.

In the previous 2019 Lok Sabha elections, both the BJP and JD(U) contested 17 seats each in Bihar.

However, the NDA secured a landslide victory, with the BJP winning all 17 seats and JD(U) securing 16. With the BJP now contesting one more seat than Nitish Kumar's party in the current scenario, it has assumed a symbolic position as the dominant force within the alliance.
